Dreamboats & PetticoatsNow showing at the Playhouse Theatre is the musical that is the ultimate in feel good nostalgia.  Giving you an awesome trip down memory lane to the 60’s: the age when pop music was really was something.  This musical showcases some hit songs from that decade, and in doing so really puts into perspective how fertile an era this was for great songwriting.

As the show was based on a hit CD, made famous by the quality of the songs it featured, it would be criminal not to mention the great tracks you can expect to hear in this landmark show.  Featuring the greatest hits of the 60’s, this is a non stop train ride through pure nostalgia.   However, these songs are not just relics from a time gone by, but really great tunes in their own right.

The show features such great musical numbers as ‘Let’s Dance’, ‘The Wanderer’, ‘Jezebel’, ‘To Know Him is too Love Him’, ‘Good Timin’’, ‘You Won’t Catch Me Crying’, ‘Dream Baby Dream’, ‘Shakin’ All Over’, ‘In Dreams’, ‘Palisades Park’, ‘Little Town Flirt’, ‘Sweet Nothin’s’, ‘Poetry in Motion’, ‘It’s Only Make Believe’, ‘Do You Wanna Dance’, ‘Dream Lover’, ‘Great Pretender’, ‘Only the Lonely’, ‘Donna’, ‘Teenager in Love’, ‘Runaround Sue’, ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’, ‘Only Sixteen’, ‘Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen’, ‘Wonderful World’, ‘Quarter to Three’, ‘You Don’t Know Me’, ‘Let It Be Me’, ‘Where the Angels Go’, ‘Lets Twist Again’ and ‘At The Hop’.

These timeless songs are used to tell the story of Bobby, Norman, Laura and Sue.  The year is 1961 and the country is in the thrall of the sweet instant pleasure that rock and roll can bring.  Two young men, Bobby and Norman, are in love with music, and dream of becoming famous rock stars.  This is not the only affection they share, as they both have fallen for the same beautiful woman.  When a national songwriting competition is announced, the two men begin a challenge that will change their lives for ever.

In this production the story will be brought to life by an all star cast:  Ben James-Ellis, the performer made famous by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s reality TV show ‘Any Dream Will Do’ is taking on the role of Norman, whilst X Factor runner up Scott Brunton performs the part of Bobby.  Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Biddall gives a thrilling performance as Sue, whilst Laura is played by Daisy Wood-Davis.
